A brief history

Conceived in 1913 by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin as Bamford & Martin Ltd the company has developed into the iconic brand it is today.

The name ‘Aston Martin’ came about a year after the company’s conception following Lionel Martin’s successful run at the Aston Hill climb in Buckinghamshire, within the first 12 months following that the first Aston Martin had been built.

During the 1940’s Aston Martin was bought by Sir David Brown and this is where the DB Prefix on their cars originates. Although it wasn’t the first in the DB series without a doubt the DB5 is the most recognised and Iconic, making its first cinematic appearance in the 1964 Bond film Goldfinger.

The DB9 showcased in 2003 as the successor of the DB7 and was in production up until 2016. Available as both a coupe and volante its elegant design and intoxicating V12 helped to secure its popularity with Aston Martin owners and fans worldwide.
